Stabilizer

A centralizer attached to the Drill Collar to center the bit in the hole. Stabilizers may be spaced out over the drill collar string to prevent the buckling of the collars and provide a rigid drilling assembly, (i.e., a packed hole assembly) or may be positioned in such a manner to take advantage of the bending moment of the drill collars to keep the bit drilling vertically, sometimes called the “pendulum effect.”
